Everything we’ve heard so far sounds promising and like maybe they’d stepped towards realism. I’m (very) cautiously optimistic but need to see it and play it for myself.

They better also have overhauled the grappling as a whole (clinch included) which where the weakest aspect of the game with new positions and improved animations (pretty much used the same animations since ufc 1). So far I've only heard about trivial additions which doesn't actually improve the gameplay.

That is simply not true. EAUFC3 even added new animations way after release, which is normally not done.

I wouldn't call the visual damage upgrades trivial, but then again we haven't seen anything yet.

Yes they used the same ground animations since UFC 1, miniscule additions doesn't overhaul the ground game, they tried to overhaul the clinch but only turned it out worse than it was, go figure. i don't know what kind of game you've played? Even the major glitch issue of some fighters having submission moves from positions not available to them has been around since the first game. Stop defending incompetence, especially when it comes to spending hard earned money for corporate hacks.

Then what do you call "visual aspects" that goes hand in hand with style and presentation over actual gameplay (substance)? It's a cool addition no doubt, but still trivial.

I wouldn't have even cared about all those silly cosmetics if the clinch game in 4 wasn't so busted. My mentality was: You're gonna waste all that time creating these ridiculous cosmetics when theres legitimate parts of the sport that you paid little to no attention too? Insanity. But, it apparently made them a bunch of money so lets hope that a portion of that cash was re-invested into actual improvements/progress
