New Coach
Major Conference
History of some success in past, hopefully a NC

Which led me to choosing Syracuse. They are a 3* program in the ACC with a new coach and they won a NC in 1959. Plus with success the Carrier Dome could be a crazy HFA. They've had great success in BB so you know there is a legit fanbase there.
There has been smaller schools that have had success..
I mean look where tcu has gone and Boise state.. Hell for a while Hawaii was turning into a strong program.. Arkansas state has made some noise in the past few years.

I agree but I would not call any of those schools powerhouses. I'm not saying you can't have a good season, but going from 0-12 to national champs with Georgia State in 2 or 3 years is not realistic or fun for me.

Re: Realistic Coaching Careers

Here are my "rules."

Start off as OC/DC of 1 star school and stay for entire length of contract unless offered a power conference HC job or a job at my dream school. (Rarely if ever happens)

Since I'm a coordinator I limit myself to 1500 recruiting points to use each week and I can only recruit five guys at a time. When I move up to HC, I up it to 2000. I let the CPU do the rest of the recruiting. (In reality the coordinators and HC rarely do all of the recruiting anyway)

Only play up to 50% of regular season games and only the first and fourth quarter of games I actually play. Post season games do not count against the cap.

NO RESETS!

So far this has worked for me and made it really tough to move up in the coaching world. Using NMSU, I had to start over a couple of times after being canned.

I love the idea of 1st and 4th! I might try that.

What do you have your quarters set to? I just played a game using your 1st and 4th rule and my game had way to many plays for my offense.

8 minutes. I also use the "three minute offense" if I'm winning in the fourth with under four minutes to go. I'll change pace to "conservative" and run the ball on first and second down.

I love playing with all teams though so I let the wind take me.

I'm the same way as you... But I wanted to start at my 2* alma- mater (Bowling Green) as the OC because I wanted to play with this years roster and stay for a bit... And then, like you said, let the wind take me around the country to different jobs and experiences.... Eventually I want to come back to Bowling Green and lead them to the National Championship as a HC... I mean it's a 60 year dynasty so what the hell... Plenty of time to play with a bunch of teams... I'm using custom conference's based on geography so it's not like the schedule matters, but the matchups will be hard and fun...
