NCAA Realignment

Hey guys, I'm putting the finishing touches on my NCAA story. Once I finish this season with my Blazers, I'm gonna give it a go. But I have a little problem.

I've been able to mix five different mods for 2K14 and I've got Michigan State (the team I'm gonna use) and 100 other schools. Still, as you all know, I'm still missing a lot.

Since I'm using the Spartans, that means Big Ten, and I'm missing Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State and Rutgers. What would you replace them with? Geographically speaking, perhaps? Or with some other criteria?

What teams are available? Big Ten is a lot of midwestern teams I believe

Re: NCAA Realignment

Yeah, the Big 10 has 2 general criteria for its schools:
1) Upper midwest/"rust belt" East coast
2) Solid academically

Schools that were considered for the Big 10 in the past (and aren't currently in) include Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Syracuse. Nearby schools that could qualify are Iowa State, Missouri, and Pittsburgh.

If you loosen the academic and size restrictions, you could consider Cincinatti, Xavier, and a lot of schools in the MAC.

Re: NCAA Realignment

Just realized I'm also missing Nebraska -- but since I'm starting in 2000, and they didn't join until much years later, I can pass that. Same with Rutgers, so I just need to replace three teams to reach the 11 teams of that time.

- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
+ Iowa State
- Michigan
- Michigan State
+ Notre Dame
- Ohio State
+ Pittsburgh
- Purdue
- Wisconsin

Would that be OK? Northwestern, Minnesota and Penn State will switch conferences with those new teams I added.

I think Maryland is supposed to be in there somewhere.

Other than that, here are a few articles that speak to potential Big 10 teams:

Re: NCAA Realignment

Maryland joined in 2014, but could get the job done.

- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
+ Iowa State
+ Maryland
-
Michigan

- Michigan State
+ Notre Dame
- Ohio State
- Purdue
- Wisconsin?

Re: NCAA Realignment

That's a pretty reasonable fake Big 10, especially for basketball (since ISU adds nothing in football).

As an Iowa alumni, the whole idea of "who is in the Big 10?" is a topic I've discussed for several years

Re: NCAA Realignment

Thanks guys, I think I'm rolling with those 11 teams. Since the season in 2K is 29 games, I was thinking:

A classic round robin in the Big Ten:

- 10 home games
- 10 away games.

9 regular season games against teams from other conferences.
