As some one who doesn't own one yet, this warranty definitely makes it more likely I will buy one in the short term. Mission accomplished for MS (in terms of attracting new customers, addressing consumer complaints and lawsuits, and giving a "feelgood" bonus to their existing customers).

Q: Do I get a refund?
A: Yes, we will reimburse any customer who was out of warranty and paid for repairs due issues indicated by the three flashing red lights error message. Customer should expect to receive a check in 10-12 weeks.
That is great news. I'll be buying GTA and Halo 3 with that money.

Well they added a year to everyone's warranty awhile ago.

This is a step in the right direction, but there's still no way I'm going to buy one until I am positive I can get a machine that corrects the problem. A 3 year warranty is great up until the 37th month. My original (year 1) Xbox is still functioning fine. For $400 I expect a 360 to last just as long.

Well I just got off the phone (20 minutes ON HOLD!), and they are sending the coffin for my Premium...though I already bought a Core the night before the warranty extension.

I just hope I get the same system, and then I have a system to sell, gift to my sister before 'Rock Band', or trade-in for a credit.

that's what I was wondering. They made it highly specific for only the rings of death. Mine is still a piece of **** with lockups and DDE's, but never got the red rings. I think it's a copout to only do this for the red rings when the 360 is flawed in other ways.

My launch one is still running strong, and this makes me feel even more at ease with a 3 year warranty.

well I hope this at least shows people with working systems that there is a problem that they are potentially going to get. Too many times I've read people say, "well treat your system better then."

MS admitted there is a problem with the design, so people who have had there's since launch are most likely just lucky.
