No one considers it one of the very top jobs anymore but it's still a Top 25 job.

  • Salary
  • Facilities
  • Recruiting footprint
  • Has the cachet to schedule any OOC you want (Arizona, Villanova, Syracuse, Michigan State, Georgetown, Oregon in just the last two years)
  • Can fill up neutral sites like MSG
  • Fanbase
  • Basketball-first school (despite its idiotic efforts the last 15 years)

Really the only thing going against it is the conference it's in.

Louisville has reportedly offered Chris Mack 5/6 Years at $4M per year.

They also reportedly have contacted UK to talk to Kenny Payne. Former UofL players want Payne.

Not sure if I believe it or not because I am not sure if an assistant would really say anything yet but...
According to a local sports talk guy here in Cincy the Mack deal is done and will be announced today or tomorrow.
The reason he is saying it is done is because one of Xavier's recruits is telling people that he has been contacted by Mack's assistant he was recruited by and that assistant now wants him to consider Louisville.

The rumor is that Vince Tyra will be announced as the Athletic Director today (already happened) and that Mack will be announced tomorrow or Wednesday.

And Kent Taylor of Wave 3 News in Louisville, is reporting what you said about recruits saying Mack's staff is telling them they are actively recruiting for Louisville.

We'll see...

They are reporting her in Cincy that Mack to L-Ville is a done deal.
Press conference tomorrow afternoon.
Apparently he told the Xavier players this morning.
