Re: 2023-24 College Hoops Thread

I'm pretty excited for this season.

I don't know if this is the best team Tennessee has ever had, but it's certainly the deepest. We looked pretty good beating Michigan State - albeit in an exhibition - without Vescovi or ZZ.

Hoping this is the year the Vols finally break through and reach that elusive Final Four.

Scrolling through the scores of these early season MBB games you always see a ton of schools you had no idea existed.

Louisville actually won. Thought they were going to be an embarrassment on a night they celebrated Denny Crum, but they came back from 8 down at the half to win by 1.

Louisville with tonight’s win (1-0) have now won a quarter of the total number of games they won last year (4)

Well that exhibition win doesn’t look so good now.

I'm cautiously optimistic about how Kentucky played tonight. We shot 50% from the field and attempted 29 3s (I can't remember when Cal let a team attempt that many three-pointers).

We played with pace and space...38 points at the rim, 27 from beyond the arc, 13 from the free throw line, and only 8 points from midrange.

Who and what:

1. How LSU would come out as the reigning, defending national champs; I missed the game, but it appears they came out flat, uninspired, and thinking they can show up and turn it on. Coach Kim will coach 'em up, looking forward to how they respond.

2. If Paige Bueckers can stay healthy and finally bring a championship back to Storrs; I'm sure by her and UCONN's standard, it's largely been disappointing, between the injuries and inability to win a championship (can't believe they haven't won the title since 2016).

3. Caitlin Clark. Period.

4. If KU will live up to the hype. Happy wife, happy life (I guess), but seems like they're a prohibitive favorite to get back to the Final Four...and that's upsetting.
