Whitehead and the cheifs are heating up at the right time sit at 8-3. When asked Whitehead about Patrick Mahomes return Whitehead said "he's a hell of a guy to come back from an injury that fast but we needed them to make a push for this playoff wine we're going to need how to play like the way he has been playing no days off we have to hit the ground running Apple plan on making it through a tough playoffs this year"

UTEP athletic director Randy James was pleased to announce his most recent hiring on the UTEP athletic staff --- new football head coach Terrence Whitehead

"We are very excited to announce the newest head of UTEP football," James announced at a recent press conference. "New head coach and offensive guru Terrence Whitehead will look to lead our Express into the future."

Former head coach John Mristobal was fired following 2 frustrating seasons which saw the Express collect only 0 win.

Enter new hire Terrence Whitehead , a student and now teacher of the rising Spread Option offense, will implement his new and exciting offense in hopes of bringing the Express out of the cellar and into the top of the USA conference. Whitehead has been an offensive coordinator at several Division III and NFL 2019 Super Bowl winner Kansas City Chiefs with each stop garnering numerous offensive and scoring records. Teams under Whitehead have produced exciting, efficient and high-scoring offenses, and including a large amount of wins.

Whitehead will enter his 2nd career coaching job in a tough but promising situation. UTEP has struggled the last few years and but features a young and talented rosters, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

"I am very excited for this opportunity to finally lead a football team from the top," Whitehead stated at the press conference. "I have overseen several successful offenses but now I want the whole package. I'm looking forward to leading these young Express into a successful future."

Whitehead inherits a young roster which features several potential starters that are sophomores or younger, including at the quarterback position. Where will the Express go this upcoming season?

Caylin Newton, younger brother of Cam Newton, joins El paso Express as graduate transfer.*


AUBURN — Cam Newton is still looking for a new home in the NFL, but his younger brother, Caylin Newton, has found his in college.

Newton will be immediately eligible after graduating from Howard earlier this month. He'll two seasons of college eligibility remaining after redshirting the 2019 season.



Newton, a former walk-on, was a standout at the FCS school located in Washington D.C, earning MEAC Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman in 2017. He completed 51% of his passes for 5,061 yards, carried 322 times for 1,257 yards and totaled 51 touchdowns over 21 games over two seasons from 2017-18, which included a 43-40 win over UNLV — the biggest point-spread upset in college football history (the Rebels were favored by 45).


The 6-foot, 195-pound Atlanta native was named the 2019 MEAC preseason Player of the Year but played only four games before deciding to transfer.
