Tovarich: Incredible comeback from 12 down. Then we got up 6, then they re-took the lead. Incredible 3 to win with 1.6 to go by Krleski. Thank you whichever of them missed the 1 and 1 there at the end to give us the chance for the win. Thank you to their center for throwing the ball back to us so many times, he probably would've been wise to just shoot every time he touched it. His passing skills are a bit lacking.
Reporter: It looked like the plan was to go down low for a 2 to win it at the end?
Tovarich: Yes. But kicking it out for the 3 when they had it defended was the right play, obviously. Just relieved we hit it.
Reporter: You don't usually double-team the opposing center, what went into that plan?
Tovarich: After his first pass was stolen, it seemed like that wasn't a good thing for him, so we figured we'll do whatever we can to make him pass. Just guarding one on one rarely forces that, so we stuck two on him. We tied him up twice but he was a turnover machine, so making him get it out of his hands seemed obvious. I was willing to leave a jump shooter open, since most of their offense was just driving right back our slow guys and laying it in.
Reporter: Is it worrying it took 13 extra shots to eek out a win?
Tovarich: You'd like to not have to rely on that, because most teams aren't going to toss you 13 turnovers, but they shot exactly 60% in each half. We were 29% at half and I think we made it to about 50% in the second. So, that's the only way. Deny their shots and shoot a lot of 3's to try to even it out.
Reporter: You were down 3 and they had the ball with about 44 seconds left. You could have played out the defensive possession and still had a chance at the end, what went into deciding to foul?
Tovarich: They weren't exactly lighting it up from the FT line, so I felt better about them there than I did from the field. They hit those first 2, but the second one and one they missed was the difference probably.
Reporter: Winston-Salem State handled you pretty easily the first game, although it was over 2 months ago. Does anything from that game carry over?
Tovarich: It's hard to remember what happened in that game since it was like our second conference game and then we never saw them again. I know we allowed a lot of points and that meant the game was too fast. So we'll need to slow it down for one. We were something like 4-9 at the time, so I'd like to think we've grown and gotten better and come together more with a better understanding of what works and what doesn't, so hopefully we can put up a better fight this time.

Tovarich: There's no way to sugar coat that one. We collapsed. I don't know what happened for the last 8 minutes. I know the court said NC State, but I don't think we were playing them. I think Winston-Salem State magically became NC State all of a sudden. I thought up 48-37 with 8 to go, we'd just need a few scores and run some clock. Then they score 13 in a row before we can make a shot. Then they go get 9 in a row again. I think we went 2 for our last 14? They made 11 of their last 13. Incredible transformation all of a sudden. Rough loss. I guess it was just some kind of superhuman effort by them and we choked.
Reporter: Do you still consider this a successful season?
Tovarich: We certainly did better than anyone expected. My main goal when I showed up and saw the state of this program was to just get season 1 over with, but now that recruiting is going so badly, that's my expectation for season 2 as well most likely. So, the results may be good, but I expected to be more optimistic about season 2 and I'm not. That's all. Enjoy the off-season reporter people.
