Breaking News!

The Mariners have made a trade. Yes, it is very, very early in the season, but early out of Spring Training, it was quite obvious that help was needed at the Right Field position. With Nelson Cruz DHing, it left Seth Smith to play right. Smith, a very good replacement level player, is declining at age 33, and the Mariners thought now would be time to pull the plug to get a new outfielder to replace him. So the Mariners will be sending Zach Lee (B, 68) a 24 year old Starting Pitcher, Ariel Miranda (B, 62) a 27 year old Starting Pitcher, and the aforementioned Seth Smith (C, 70) to the St Louis Cardinals for OF Randal Grichuk (B, 76) SP Jack Flaherty (B, 65) and OF Nick Plummer (B, 57). Grichuk is intriguing due to his age, as he is only 24 with lots of room to grow, and his power, which is very good. Flaherty is no throw in to this deal. He is only 20 years old, and is working through the ranks in the Cardinals farm. He will start in Double-A Jackson. Finally, Nick Plummer, the Cardinals first-round draft pick in 2015 is only 19, with lots of room to grow.
