I mean, my dude... Who didn't wake up before school. Grab a hearty bowl of Cap'n Crunch and catch up on the zany and unquestioned ability of Disney's DuckTales to tell the same damn story 100 straight times and get the same result? Scrooge got money, everybody want his money... at the end of the day, Scrooge gon' swim.

Now, for those unlucky souls without a childhood and are sitting here right now feeling left out... let's go back to a time before selfie sticks, and Coke Zero...and jumbotrons at Wrigley Field. My friends, here was the premise to this great piece of history.

There was once a television show about the richest duck in the world. And.. here's the kicker. He wanted even more fugging money to increase his overflowing bank vault full of money. Did this storyline get old? Hell yes... was this great waking up before school teleivsion?

You damn right!

Now we won't waste anyone's time worrying about all the money laundering that was going on behind the scenes Or the fact that there were half duck half robot cyborgs on the payroll... this is a baseball dynasty thread for crying out loud...

Just remember this.. It was like Scarface for kids. Disney hit the jackpot...

Re: The Ted Turner Memoirs VII. - The Point Of No Return

2015 was such a ridiculous year for Julio Teheran, it was hard to really feel bad about coming out the gates getting your behind beat after just 20 pitches. First inning went about right 1-2-3. Then the second inning a pair of errors, and a mistake pitch down the seams left the Braves in an early 3 - 0 hole, Teheran speechless, and the Braves fans that made the trek down to South Florida shell shocked.

There was however a shimmer of positivity going around the dugout this afternoon as Austin Wilson in his first game went 2-3 with a single, a double and a walk. It was a very productive day for this young man, and to be honest, his swing is looking ready. The stride Wilson is on right now is in August form... so the scare from Spring Training may not become a issue just yet but we'll see if the pitchers make adjustments towards him as the year progresses..

The Braves would start a rally in the 8th, as Andrelton Simmons who must have spent a couple extra hours in the weight room, hit a huge 2 run jack over the left field wall to bring us to a single run. Although there was a moment... where it seemed the Braves would in classic fashion find a way to somehow pull this one out of their sleeve, Captain Buzzkill Aramis Ramirez was left on deck asked to win the game:

..

that's asking way too damn much brehs..

Oh well, 0 - 1... ain't the first time for that.

Moving into April, the simulation has not been very favorable for our Boys as they drop 2 more to Miami and pull into the home opener dead last and in need of a pick me up in the worst type of way. On the bump this evening would be the long time veteran Tommy Hanson who beat out Brandon Beachy on arguably the merits of seniority and nothing more.

With that said, Hanson is trying to prove to the naysayers in 2016 that he is not just a figurehead to be pulled out for memorabilia nights and patted on the back on his way out to the sunset. Hanson is wanting to earn his money and the best way to do that is do what he did last night all season long.

He might not can lead a rotation anymore, but he sure as hell can stop a 3 game skid from turning into 4.

That's what Holman Keezel pays him to do.

Re: The Ted Turner Memoirs VII. - The Point Of No Return

Ok brehs now I ain't one to get upset over spilled delicious milk. And I don't know about you... But where are the friggen injuries. It's going on dang near the third season and it's looking like yet another clean sheet when it comes to hospital paper work.

I know everybody has got a lot on their plate right now, but can we take just a quick moment and figure out this phenomena once and for all? Cool...

So it turns out the whole time injuries are related not if the injury switch is turned on, but what user mode you have selected. It doesn't take a medical doctor to guess what user mode we're playing under...

So.. let's adjust that from uh.. Beginner to Experienced...

Brandon Inge is signed to a 1 year deal because he was the only "name" player left in free agency. It actually wasn't a bad signing, and he fills in depth just in case The Show Power that Be, decide to hit us up on some of that back child support for avoiding the injuries for so long.

One slider adjustment led to 2 in game injuries. One to Dillion Gee, which damn near gave us a second chance at winning this ballgame. And the other to John Boy Rocker. Ironic since due to Dynasty lore, we NEVA pitch him in New York City.

The one time Rocker comes in, the one time we go against the grain and pitch him in the hated Borough of Queens... this froot loop dingus nearly blows his hamstring out.

Surprisingly though.... that's may be what needed to happen for us to believe that is ok to start believing a season ending injury is just one sim away. This is a good fear to have for entertainment purposes. Not for keeping a consistent lineup going to get back in the NL East race.

Re: The Ted Turner Memoirs VII. - The Point Of No Return

1 Week and 5 losses later, the Braves are struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It seems like this has the makings for one of those old fashion Atlanta Summers where the Braves dig themselves into a 4th place hole, and spend the rest of the dammed season just getting back to relevancy.

It will be a tough task however, especially if the bums that were playing over their heads, go back to being just bums. Tommy LaStella who could do no wrong last year, has a case of the Sophomore Slumps. This guy has been terrible lately. Like bad enough for a dude to hope Dan Uggla makes it into the Show 16 so he could be a late season call up in the future.

But hopefully we won't have to do all that... LaStella can turn this thing around.

Just not tonight. What a game... it's been awhile since the ol' ball club got taken out back and beaten over the head repeatedly like this. Garza was outstanding. His slider was straight filthy and if not for Andrelton Simmons... this game was easily going into a 9 inning shutout.

Now it's hard to not notice that Simmons is tearing the cover off of the ball. This is a guy last season who ain't had more than 14 HRs in a season his entire career, and right now at game numero 17, he's got 8.. and is 2nd best in the entire show at home runs.

When the hell this guy come off getting a smooth 98 POWER in hitting against left handed pitching? A 60 is not too shabby either, but 98 is putting Simmons in the class with the best of the best of the best sir!

Right now, he's the best hitter on the team by a mile. Just not sure how he got there. And I'm sure the commissioner has no idea either. So here's the game we'll play.

Quote:
IF Simmons gets to 20 homers this season before July 1. He will go undergo a drug test and face possible suspension.
We'll see if the sim leads us there... it'd be a Ted Turner Memoirs first that's for damn sure.

That 98 corresponds to vision, not power, haha. He has 48 contact LHP, 60 power LHP.
