The Tigers rebounded to take game two 7-5. Riley Greene (3), Spencer Torkelson (10), Kerry Carpenter (5), and Kyle Dutcher (9) homered. Carpenter had three RBI. Dutcher stole two more bases, giving him 19 on the season. Tarik Skubal (5-0) earned his fifth win, going 6 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
The Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two, but couldn't hold on, as the Twins came back to win game three 6-5. Kerry Carpenter (6) homered. Zach McKinstry had three RBI. Tyler Holton (0-1) took the loss in releif.

After losing two of three to the Twins, the Tigers headed to Tampa Bay for a three game series to conclude their road trip. The Tigers won game one 12-8. Riley Greene (4) homered, and drove in five. The Tigers took game two, 7-4. Rookie Colt Keith (4) hit a pair of home runs, and drove in three. Riley Greene (5) homered for the second straight game, and drove in a pair. Matt Manning pitched six strong innings to earn his 5th win of the season.
In game three, the Tigers fell behind 4-0 after two innings, but battled back to within one. Tampa added a run in the fourth, but the Tigers tied the game in the seventh on Javy Baez's 4th home run of the season, a two run shot. Roley Greene drove in the winning run in the top of the tenth. Baez had 4 RBI in the game. Shelby Miller (1-0) earned the win in relief. Alex Lange earned his 9th save.
The Tigers have an off day on Thursday, then head home for a six game homestand, starting with three games against the Royals (11-15) then three with the Cardinals (10-16).

The Tigers had to come from behind to win game three. They trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th, but scored three times in the inning, to take the game 4-3. Colt Keith had a pair of RBI in the win. Jack Flaherty pitched seven strong innings, but took a no-decision. Jason Foley earned the win in relief, his first of the season.
The Tigers remain home, hosting the St. Louis Cardinals (12-16) in a three game series.

The Cardinals evened the series with a 3-2 win in game two. Nolan Gorman (11) homered, and drove in two. Spencer Torkelson hit his 13th home run of the season in the loss. Casey Mize pitched well, but took his third loss of the season.
The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the 9th, to walk off the Cardinals 2-1. Colt Keith tied the game with an RBI single. Mark Canha pinch hit, and singled to center, driving in the winning run. Tarik Skubal struck out eleven in six innings, allowing four hits and just one run, but he got a no-decision. Andrew Chafin (1-1) earned the win in relief.
The Tigers are off on Thursday, then head to New York for a weekend three game series against the Yankees (15-17)

Kenta Maeda (5-0) allowed three runs in six innings, to earn the win.
The Yankees evened the series with a 5-4 win in game two. Juan Soto (7), and Anthony Volpe (3) homered for the Yankees. Volpe drove in two. Colt Keith had a pair of RBI for the Tigers. Spencer Torkelson, and Mark Canha also had RBI. Jack Flaherty struggled on the mound, allowing four runs in four innings. Reese Olson (0-1) took the loss in relief.
Game three went to extra innings, with the Tigers squeaking out a 6-5 win in ten innings. Detroit jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three. The Yankees tied the game in the 8th. Kerry Carpenter singled in a run in the top of the tenth. The Yankees loaded the bases on a couple walks in the bottom of the tenth, but Alex Lange (13) locked things down to earn the save. Gio Urshela drove in three for the Tigers. Javier Baez (6) homered.
The Tigers now head to Cleveland, for a three game series against the Guardians (12-23). The Guardians have lost 13 straight.
TIGERS NOTES
Agua could force Tiger's hand
Not much attention was given when the Tigers signed Cuban free agent Jose Agua in the offseason. Agua played well in the Cuban league, hitting for power. But, his inability to hit lefthanded pitching scared most teams away. Not many expected him to make much of an impact. But now he may be forcing the Tiger's hand. Agua hit .351 with 5 HR and 16 RBI at AA Erie. He was then called up to AAA Toledo, where he has added 6 more home runs, and 13 RBI, while hitting .400 (including .667 in limited action against lefties). Agua is capable of playing third base, as well as the corner outfield positions. His gaudy numbers in the minors could force a call-up in the future.
Rogers playing himself out of the lineup
Catcher Jake Rogers has really struggled. He's hitting a meager .148 with 3 HR and 8 RBI in 27 games thus far. Backup Carson Kelly is hitting .281, and is likely earning more playing time. If Rogers doesn't turn it around soon, he could find himself back in Toledo. Detroit doesn't have a whole lot of depth though. They have prospect Dillon Dingler (.256, 0 HR 4 RBI in Toledo) and Veteran Anthony Benboom at Toledo. They do have an intriguing option at Erie, in Pat Lemmon, an undrafted free agent signed this offseason. Lemmon is hitting .395 at Erie.
The Tigers won a slugfest in game one, by an 8-6 score. The Tigers hit five home runs, while the Guardians hot two. Kyle Dutcher (13) and Carson Kelly (3) had a pair of homers each, and Spencer Torkelson (15) also went deep. Casey Mize struggled, allowing five runs on ten hits in five innings.

The Astros evened up the series with a 3-2 win in game two. Chaz McCormick homered, and drove in two. The Tigers got a pair of RBI from Spencer Torkelson in the loss. Matt Manning (6-1) allowed three runs in five innings, taking the loss.
The Tigers won game three, 2-0. Casey Mize (3-3), Jason Foley, and Andrew Chafin combined to shut out the Astros. Detroit's runs came on an RBI single by Riley Greene in the third, and a Colt Keith RBI double in the seventh.
The Tigers remain home, concluding their home stand with a three game series against the Miami Marlins (22-20). The Marlins are currently in third in the N.L. East, 8.5 games back of the Atlanta Braves.
