Linux VPS Web Host Recommendations
I'm going to need to move to a new provider because of ongoing support issues with my old one. Any recommendations?

bluehost.com is solid. I've been using it for RNFL and we rarely have issues with uptime...if ever. Not sure what your price range is though.

I have about 20 servers at Linode. I have no major complaints.
About a year ago they had some pretty large scale DDOS attacks going agains them. Their support was very good about communicating what was going on and what they were doing to try and stop it. They've recently gone through and massively upgraded all their datacenters so DDOS issues should be a thing of the past. Support tickets are responded to quickly and there is usually a staff member or two hanging out in their IRC channel for unofficial support. I've also been happy with AWS but it isn't really suited to a one server thing. |

Amazon takes the Elastic in Elastic Computing literally. It's designed for workloads that scale up and down frequently where individual servers don't matter.
It's uncommon enough, but I wouldn't say rare that Amazon will just straight up take a server down if there is a hardware or some other issue with it. They will make no effort to bring it back online with the data that was on it before. If you have your stuff saved on EBS and S3 you can definitely mitigate data loss, but it will still be a pain. |

If you are serving a website that has only client-side functionality (HTML/CSS/JS) you can fully host it in an S3 bucket with 'static websites' enabled on AWS for next to nothing. 5 9's availability and 11 9's durability. Can't really beat that.
