We have EA's Ear.....Keep pressing
Posted on September 14, 2012 at 12:01 PM.
With the return of Fantasy Drafts in Madden one can hope that roster edits will be next. I wrote in my last blog about why we need them. EA actually appears to be listening to the customers this year.

While I am not one who cares for or uses Fantasy Draft, make no mistake about how big this is for the rest of us. EA needs now to make sure that the roster edits are done sooner than later as well. If Fantasy Drafts can be done with a tuner update, then here’s hoping we get the same treatment for those of us that want to edit our rosters inside of CCM.

EA would be wise to issue a statement regarding roster edits soon. Those of us who have been asking for them don’t want to feel slighted. I know Fantasy Draft was something there was a lot of discussion, but I believe that more have been asking for roster edits than Fantasy Drafts. It would not be wise for EA to go too long without giving us an update.

Another great point of this patch is maybe we should ask for me. We all are missing the ability to import our NCAA draft classes. So why do we not ask about patching that in as well. We saw earlier this year with the disappointment in the Mass Effect 3 ending that if we express our outrage, we can get a fix. Now those who have been screaming for the return of Fantasy Drafts in Madden 13 have been granted their wish. So let us all ask for what we want. Sure we won’t get it all. (Yes, I admit that getting imported draft classes back this year is a tall order and most likely not an option but why not.) Remember, they told us Fantasy Draft wasn’t going to happen but it did.

If you want to see my case for roster edits go look at my last blog post. It will break down the case I made for them and why they are important to a lot of us gamers. I feel the same way about being able to edit my own rosters that those who were screaming for Fantasy Drafts felt about doing their Fantasy Drafts. I don’t feel slighted that their request came first. I just hope theirs being granted is a sign of more good things to come.

EA has long been listed as a company that does not care about its customers. Maybe that was true for some time but maybe we are witnessing the turning of a corner here. I try not read too much into it but I see a chance here for us to finally make them add back in key features instead of waiting for “next year’s game.” We don’t want it to used on the back of the box next year as some “new” feature. It needs to present today.

Now is not the time to tone down our pressure. Now is the time to step it up because we have their ears. It has been rare in recent years we as customers have felt as if we had their ear. Let’s not waste the chance we have.

Well, I gotta disagree with the above (possibly now banned)poster to some extent. Madden does more than just update the rosters from year to year, and that's the problem. I think they try doing too much. Maybe less is more.
But as to the question of having Madden's ear. I think that might be overstating the case. They made a change that the program allowed them to do. Maybe the Fantasy option was one of the few things left that was available from a programming aspect. But I wouldnt get my hopes up. It looks to me like they've painted themselves into a programming corner repeatedly thru the years.

Maybe you're right, Jimbo. And even if we don't get roster edits back in this season we at least see they are listening to a degree. That is a positive no matter how we slice it. In the past we've not seen things like this. However, I do remember a few years ago they removed roster edits and put them back in via a patch. It has been done before. I can't remember which year, but I do remember it happening.

I agree that NONE of these features should have been removed. If CCM wasn't ready for this season with all the features we know and love like roster edits, total roster control, import draft classes, fantasy draft, then it should have been tabled until next year.

While I like a lot of what they have done or attempted to do, I want those features because they are staples of the game. You do not remove staples of the game. That I hope is a listen they finally learn with the backlash here.

But Jimbo, you may very well be right.

(I did delete the other posters comments. If you aren't going to be constructive on my blog don't post. I don't mind disagreement, but I want it constructive and then maybe we can have a true dialog instead of pointless "EA Sucks" posts. Disagreement is encouraged but not acting like a child.)
