OS Tip of the Day: Stealing on Weak Armed Catchers

Know when there's a weak arm and when there is a strong arm behind the plate.

When Stealing, Know The Catcher

If you've decided that your runner is capable of stealing, double-check the opposing catcher's arm/throw ratings. While no catcher has a 100% success rate of throwing runners out, you probably shouldn't tempt the best.

Look for a weak catcher and get ready to run!

Which catcher is the hardest to steal on in the league?

I cant argue with Yadier. But for me with Matt Wieters I have thrown out about 67% of the guys who have tried to run on me. (8 of 12)

There is no doubt Yadier Molina is the best in the game. He's the best all-around catcher in the game period, but no one is as intimidating at throwing guys out. It's a double-edged sword for him because his reputation means that not many guys will even try. Even whey guys are called safe, they are still really out (see last night's game against the Cubs).

OS Member tip of the day:

Unless you like controller hurling competitions, don't steal on Jose Molina.
