Not a fan of banning home plate collisions. This has been part of the game forever. Yes, people have been hurt, but you can say that about any sport that involves any kind of physical contact. Next they will be banning sliding hard into bases to break up double plays.

So.. Runner coming from second, the ball is coming from the Right Fielder on a bounce. The Ball and the Runner are equal in their race for the plate. Is the Catcher supposed to concede the run and not make the tag? Or is the runner supposed to just throw up his hands and give up?
So this means no more assists from Outfielders? And if Outfielders can't hope to catch a runner at home, then whats the point of having an arm?
Because ANY play at home plate is a collision. In order for the Catcher to tag the runner there has to be some kind of contact.
Or are they just going to "Play Through"?

Or is the runner supposed to just throw up his hands and surrender?

Call obstruction as it is supposed to be called and concussions won't be an issue. The letter of the law stayes. A catcher blocking the plate without the ball shall be called for obstruction. The only time these guys take a bad hit is when they are blocking without the ball, not looking at the runner bearing down, bit staring at the ball that has yet to arrive. Make catcher follow the rules and they won't take bad hits that they cannont brace for.
