Why I like Battlefield 3 Multiplayer better than MW3
Posted on November 9, 2011 at 09:34 AM.
I've been a Modern Warfare guy for the last 4 years, up until I was hacked in MW2 in Feb 2011. Although I skipped Black Ops, I was eagerly awaiting MW3 since I new it was being developed by Infinity Ward. I watched some of the pre-release trailers and game footage for MW3 and was instantly reminded of the familiar gameplay, graphics, and sounds of the MW series. Out of curiosity and of course hype, I also checked out Battlefield 3 footage. It was VERY impressive and for some reason, I was ready for a change. So I pre-ordered it and began playing 2 weeks ago.

I've been having a blast with BF3! The sounds are the best I've heard in a videogame, the multiplayer maps are expansive, and the variation that the vehicles provide is very enjoyable. Depending on the group I'm playing with, there is strategy involved and every time I play there is a different situation that keeps it fresh and fun.

Last night, I rented MW3 just to compare my experience with the two games. I played online last night for 4 hours. Conclusion: MW3 is simply a twitch fest totally dependent on who shoots first. Every time I come around a corner or encounter an opponent, it's a matter of who's got faster reflexes. It's complete chaos on most maps because of their size. I shouldn't be surprised - MW1 and 2 were the same. And that is what I'm tired of. Also, the constant sound of voice commands and reminders in Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Team Defender is extremely annoying. A lot of success in multiplayer also depends on luck. Many times when I'm facing one way, then turn another direction, an enemy just happens to come around the corner at that very same moment and gets the kill. Again, I attribute that to the size of the maps.

So I'm glad I only rented MW3 and the rest of the world can have its immature, run-n-gun,
reflex-based shooter. I'm not interested anymore. I can't wait to enjoy my late night gaming sessions with a strategy-based, mature, varied game like BF3.

i read your blog and i would like to say i think u just suck at the game from the way u described it your reflexes suck and u hate being shot at it a WAR GAME u idiot thats what its about the reason mw3 got higher ratings than battlefield 3 is because of its gameplay u used bigwords to sound important when in actuality u just suck kill yourself little bitch mw3 rules.........................

I tend to agree with the OP. It's not that I hate or suck at Call of Duty/Modern Warfare games, it's just that I get bored with them very easily. They're fun for a while, but then they get repetitive. No shooting game is immune to this. Even Battlefield. But I feel it less so than COD. I like the team aspect of a Battlefield conquest map as opposed to the more individual play found in COD.

But to each his own. I'm just glad now I don't have to deal with as many of the objective clueless teammates on Battlefield now that MW3 is out.

COD takes better stick skills and reflexes. Battlefield uses more of a whole war scheme thought process. I feel like COD is more of a front lines game where as Battlefield is more of a General orchestrate-ive game.

LOL, wow at creating a new account just to reply with that... Anyway, on topic: I definitely agree with you GP. I like the added realism of BF, along with the strategy aspect. Or maybe, I just suck at twitching

I have enjoyed the MW series with the exception of MW2 mostly because the perks created an imbalance and the hacks invaded.

I loved BF2 although it wasnt as smooth as CoD.

I heard a journalist describe MW and BF best: BF is more sim while MW is arcadey in that it is fast paced. I even vowed not to buy MW3 because, like many, I grew tired of the same ole, same ole. However, I folded and bought it. The game is fun and looks great. I still prefer the team-oriented style and sounds of BF3 but MW3 surprised.

Regardless of which game you prefer or if you play both like I do, let us gamers relish the fact that at least we have competition and that competition gave us two sweet games in the same genre.

First off @mw3rules; grow the flip up! And try to understand why? GP likes BF3 better than MW3. We all play these shooters, and some will be better at one than the other. One game is going to feel sim oriented and the other arcady. Two shooters on different scales of mass appeal. I have both, and enjoy them for their strengths. They both need some patches to tweak things here and there, to become better games.
I can see what you mean about being twitchy, GP; as my kill cam is always telling me a different story as i am killed, when i thought i shot first! It's just a game and crap will happen. Let's just enjoy these games while we can.
cheers
btw, different strokes for different folks!

Battlefield is great for online play.
MW is great for the offline campaign modes.
That's how it has always been.
MW is arcadey and movement tends to feel unnatural and gets me dizzy.
Battlefield movement feels more weighted, and the destructable environment has always been a plus. and again the online mode has more structur

i get ur opinion that u like mw3. maybe he dont like it cuz he isnt as good at it as others. so he likes battlefield cuz it fits his play style better.

my problem with ur reaction to his post was degrading him because he likes something different than you.

no reason u cant respectively disagree and list reasons why u feel mw3 is better than bf3 without putting the OP down...

lets all be adults here ya?
