Why would you basically do the original invasion angle with this? By most accounts everyone hated the original invasion, so you're gonna run the exact same angle and just swap out WCW and ECW with ROH? WWE is even more casual now than it was back in 2001 those crowds aren't going to know the ROH guys coming in.

Well, lack of star power was at least part of the reason. No doubt fans would have been sold on a WCW Invasion if Bischoff, Goldberg, Sting, Hogan, Hall and Nash were part of the original angle. But they weren't (and yes, I'm aware of the reason why).

Wasn't the original plan to give WCW it's own weekly show (within the overall WWE framework, obviously)? Then Booker T vs Buff Bagwell happened, and they decided to kill that.

Apparently the idea of a separate WCW show was kicked around, but I don't think anyone knows for sure how serious they were about it.

The Buff/Booker match was a fiasco from the outset. They put two guys with virtually no history against one another in a match in Tacoma, WA, about as far away from WCW country as you can get and still be in the United States. Which is especially crazy considering that RAW was in Atlanta the following week. The match sucked, the WWF decided that the WCW guys were a bunch of overpaid nobodies who couldn't work, and the rest is history.

The only reason WWE wants to buyout ROH is to continue to stop Dragon from ever wrestling again when his contract is up.
