Re: Actual Tennis

So, bummer Tiafoe lost, he rallied late, fueled by the crowd, but the phenom won again. I can't remember the last time two players were facing each other in a Major final with the #1 ranking on the line for both, and none of them are the usual names, if Alcaraz wins he'll be the youngest #1 ever

Re: Actual Tennis

And there we go, Alcaraz will be the youngest world #1 ever, excited to see how his career plays out, he's on the path to dominate but it's early, **** happens

longest match in 30 years
I was lucky enough to be there! Didn't get back to the hotel until 4:15 am.

Re: Actual Tennis

This was my 2nd Slam attended - 1st was pretty much a dud (1st day of the 2016 French Open) which was almost completely rained out, though I did get the best spot on a practice court to watch Murray, Radwanska, and Berdych get some hitting in.

Went for a full day 3rd round session on Saturday, Sep 3, watched the following matches:

- Muguruza/Kvitova on Armstrong (went to 3rd set tiebreak)
- Leylah Fernandez doubles match on Court 17 (went to 3rd set tiebreak)
- Rublev/Shapo on Grandstand (went to 5th set tiebreak)
- Schwartzman/Tiafoe on Armstrong (was sitting about 20 feet away from Ben Stiller)
- Cilic/Evans on Court 17 (great setting w/ night falling over Flushing Meadows)

And then back to Ashe for the Swiatek/Pegula and Alcaraz/Sinner QF night session.
Disappointing not to catch Serena or Rafa, but this was an amazing experience, no complaints!

Re: Actual Tennis

Well you got me beat lol, the best player I've seen live is Brenda Schultz-McCarthy, 25 years ago at the Midland tennis center in Michigan, her serve was so massive. Our HS coach took us to the event pretty much just to watch her serve

I remember her. She must still be up there somewhere on the list for fastest-recorded women's serve.
