Shooting: Real Player % vs User timing…which do you use and why?

Just trying to get a better understanding on the overall feeling of both options in 2k23. I personally always use user timing but this years game is pushing me towards using real player %. Not sure if it’s because I’m using teams that are overall poor shooting teams (Kobe Era Sixers and Jordan Era Sonics) but I can’t shoot to save my life. It feels like there’s a bigger learning curve this year than in years past.

For those of you who use real player %, what factors go into a shot going in or not? I don’t think I’ve ever grasped the concept of real player %. Is it his career % or just some arbitrary number that changes from season to season/ week to week?

Just wondering if I should just keep sticking it out until I get better at user timing or go with real player %.

And just incase it means anything, I am talking offline single player MyNBA Eras mode only.

I use real % for a couple reasons. One it givese a cleaner screen for emersion purposes, and number 2 I suck at using the bars anyway

Real with slightly boosted sliders to get more swishes in the game.

Play with too many teams, hate the goofy dynamic landings/follow throughs ruining sig shots, and you get a better variety of makes.

Shooting sliders at 55-56, shot impact timing at 0 for both user and cpu, and jumpshot defensive strength sliders at 15 for both user and cpu. Best of all worlds.

As far as I’m concerned that’s the only way to play this game. And it’s also the only way to avoid the swish issue with user timing (since impact timing at 0 means you’ll see all kinds of makes and not just swishes) and the non swish issue with real player %.

Shooting feels beautiful to me with those sliders. Try it.

User timing

Why even pick up the game if you want it done for you?

I use real % as it's what I've always used going as far back as NBA Live(it was called something else). I want ratings to determine shot success not me in franchise. Now if I play solo career I use User timing as I want control there.

Why even have ratings then if USER input determines everything.

Personally I use real FG%. I like ratings to matter in sports games. With User timing, if you are good with it, you can make Shaq a 99% free throw shooter and have guys shoot from distance like Curry who in real life couldn't do it.
