Some things I've done

Create fantasy and what if rosters. I have rosters where I shuffle players around. So I'll put the big four back in Boston (Rondo, Pierce, Allen, Garnett). I'll put Lebron back on the heat. Lower ages of certain players. Do things like make Hasheem Thabeet a rookie 21 year old with 99POT. I have tons of draft classes where I made Soccer players like Zlatan into college prospects. Maybe play out a story in your head where Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson come out of retirement and play. Raise their ages and lower their stats accordingly. I had a 50 year old Jordan start playing for the Hornets just for fun.
