The name made me laugh, good title.

I hope this is an exciting dynasty to do, the Wizards are long overdue for some real joy.

*Since I'm on PS4, I don't have the current 3 two-way spots in the NBA so I cut Jared Butler despite him being on the real-life roster.

With 3 first rounders, I wonder how much the 3 Kentucky players will obscure the talent and potential of the others.

I was looking for some upperclassmen gems. Would a guy like Hightower continue the legacy of solid, over-performing Villanova players?

Funny you brought up Hightower because this time yesterday he was a Michigan State Spartan and I only switched him to Villanova for the story because I couldn't find the Spartan jerseys on the 2k24 servers lol.

Hightower is definitely one to look out for as we progress here as is the 3 Kentucky first rounders!

Haha, funny about Hightower. There's so much sausage making with these dynasties that the reader never sees :)

Liking the immersion of this already, especially the in-game photos of a few players. Curious if you think the Wiz will be bad enough to be in contention for any of them? As good as Owens appears, it would be the most Wizards-type move if they are in position to draft him when they've got two hyper ball-dominant players on the roster already with Poole and Kuzma.

I also like how many blue blood programs you've got. I've noticed from some content creators they don't load up the good programs with good to great players. In the NBA, if you take a guy from Kentucky, Duke or Villanova, chances are you're getting at-worst a solid rotation player. It doesn't always feel like that's the case with some creators who only have maybe one good player. The school where these dudes come from should matter, and I like that you're seeming to make it that way.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I think in Year One, I'm taking BPA no matter what and will adjust the roster from there, but to your point anyone of these ball-dominant players next to Poole & Kuzma would not be a pretty fit (especially after watching them play in real life).

I know what you mean about the blue blood programs being ignored, it's my biggest gripe with 2k's automated drafts. I'm working on the 2nd DC now and the default best prospect 2K had in the class was coming out of St Louis.

Thanks man, glad you liked it. I took some inspiration from the ones you've made like adding the national championship game and ncaa awards.

Thanks man, glad to hear that you like it. I'm still working out some kinks such as design / format and the length of the recaps but I'm hoping it all comes together by the time I'm a couple seasons into the series.

Surprised to see Poole's scoring numbers so low and Baldwin's so high. Didn't expect that. Impressive to start the season 11-7, though it's also the most Wizards way to go about things. Can't imagine this group winning 43+ games, so if they keep this up they'll maintain the trend of Washington being as mediocre as they come.

You're telling me lol, this is the same franchise that decided to begin tanking the year AFTER a generational talent & draft

I'm partially to blame for the 11-7 start as I had our sim difficulty at 50 along with an easy set of game sliders for the 2 games I played. Add in that I was simcasting every game plus we had an easy schedule, it really all came together why we would jump out to a hot start. I've bumped the difficulty to 60 which is what I used in 2k20 and I'm only simcasting every other game now for a little more variance which worked well for December.

I love seeing Bilal Coulibaly get more playing time. He seems like the type of player who could be a #3 or 4 on a title team, which is a really valuable asset.

Yup, I love me some Bilal in real life and in this franchise.

Once his rebounding and strength improves, I think he'll become a consistent member of the starting lineup.

Definitely feels like 21 is too low for Xavi. Based on the descriptions, I think it's reasonable for a team to take him in the top 10.

A decent number of bigs in this draft. How many are true 5s vs stretch 5s?

You could definitely make that argument about Xavi depending on how you rank prospects through the year. Xavi was a mid-40s rated prospects on a select number of mock drafts entering the season so a jump into the mid-first round is more of a "wait and see" rather than a final ranking.

As for the 5's listed right now, they all flash the ability to hit from 3 with the exception of Patrick Kabongo who projects as a younger Wendell Carter type center but none are true stretch 5's.

I'm going to highlight more of the late lottery, mid-1st round prospects as I continue to do the draft recaps but if you're okay with some spoilers feel free to check out the draft guide that I have on the first page which will highlight the top-60 prospects that declared for the 2024 draft.

It's been an interesting development, they're 27-5 at this point in the year and really are just blowing out teams similar to their 2016 run. This really feels like their last hurray to compete for a title. Even the young guys like Kuminga and Moody could make a case for Most Improved if they were to receive more PT.

It'll be interesting to see what makes sense for their team to do at the trade deadline whether it's acquire another high-end rotational player or trade the farm for a star to go all-in towards a title.

*There'll still be a January-February draft prospect recap which will highlight the larger pool of prospects as usual. I wanted to start making isolated draft posts such as this one for more significant stories since it gives a deeper dive, and they aren't too relatively time consuming to write up.

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Ha I didn't know they teamed up in your dynasty too. I'm only in Year 1 of this so Sacramento is largely the same roster you see in real-life with the exception of Harrison Barnes and Davion Mitchell who were moved in the Lauri trade.

Incredible trades man. It's super hard to make that many trades and stay realistic, but all of those looked and felt spot-on. Tough to see GPII leaving Golden State but always loved Otto, so long as he can stay healthy.

Excellent trade deadline. Agreed on the difficulty to make "realistic" trades, seeing these was helpful with ideas in my own dynasty. Do you feel Washington lacks size after the trade deadline, or is that more of a concern for the off-season?
