JW, you're a Braves fan. Here's what I got for them:

vs R:
1. Acuna
2. Riley
3. Ozuna
4. Olson
5. Albies
6. Harris
7. Kelenic
8. Murphy
9. Arcia

Not bad eh? Nice to see Acuna leading off. The AI had Acuna cleanup and Harris leading off initially.

Yankees vs R:
1. Judge
2. Berti
3. Stanton
4. Soto
5. Wells
6. Torres
7. Verdugo
8. Rizzo
9. Volpe

I like this lineup, but I'm curious why Berti would be 2nd. From a sabermetric standpoint, I see him as more of a 6 or 7-9 kind of guy. I wonder if speed is weighted too heavily for that spot in the lineup?

When I lowered his speed from 83 to 38 in the tool, it put Gleyber in the number 2 spot and him in the 7th spot, which I'd say is a better spot for him.

Lineup with everyone at 25 for speed in the tool:
Judge
Stanton
Wells
Soto
Rizzo
Torres
Berti
Verdugo
Volpe

Hmmm what are Berti’s ratings v RHP?

The way this tool works, is it puts your best hitter in the #1 spot, 2nd best in the #4 spot, and 3rd best in the #2 spot.

The other spots are done strategically with a combination of SLG and OBP

Re: JWDixon's Sabermetric Lineup Optimizer

JWDixon thanks for sharing and I love the idea. But my question is why doesn't the game already have this functionality built into to it.

I play player locked in Franchise mode I'm batting .452 with a 40 game hitting streak in mid season and the CPU is set to auto and has not made any line up adjustments. I'm still batting 7th! Ideally the CPU should look at performance and other factors and not just injuries and adjust accordingly.

This is really cool. One slight change I'd suggest is that your Con/Pow vs L should still factor in somewhat against right handed starters and vice versa to account for relievers, unless it's a our platoon guy you'd pinch hit for. I have a sheet I use to enter in players, and when I did the math last year, against a right handed starter, around 10% of plate appearances will be against lefty relievers, and against a left handed starter, 30% of plate appearances will be against a right handed reliever.

So the formula I made had vs right handed hitters 9:1 R/L ratings and against left handed starters it is 3:7 R/L ratings. I never had is just pop out a whole lineup though, that's really awesome. Mine just boils them down to a number so it's easier for me to adjust CPU Lineups.

Isn't the "Sabermetric" lineup best hitter #2, next best OBP guy leadoff, and next best power guy cleanup?

Made an update today that now includes an optimized look at your pitching. It weights certain attributes differently and ignores HR/9 (since this is ignored in gameplay).

Thanks!

As for your last point, I used a detailed statistical analysis from a few years ago that analyzes thousands of at bats and lineup structure to try to create the best lineup. That’s where I got my order from!

Re: JWDixon's Sabermetric Lineup Optimizer

First of all, thank you for this optimizer, I really like it and it's a great addition/tool for my franchise.

But I have a question: how easy or hard is it, to add other players to the Player IDs to get pictures for them?
