La campagna di Conte (FIFA 23)

Not sure how often I'll update or how this will work, but giving this a try here. Will try and do images, but it's kinda a pain, since XBox website is blocked at work. So I'll have to download to my phone and post images on there and then edit posts on my work computer.

FIFA23 manager career.

Antonio Conte has taken over the reigns for Boca Juniors in the Argentinian Premera Division. This being Boca Juniors, expectations from the board are sky high, every single objective the board is listing as critical with Conte expected to win trophies in the Premera Division, the Copa de Primera, and also the CONMEBOL Libertadores.

So far here in April 2023, it's been a mixed bag for Boca Juniors. They started the Primera campaign with a draw versus Newell's Old Boys and then won 3 straight, all one goal games. Followed by a draw and then 5 wins in a row, putting Boca top of the table.

Mid April then brought 3 straight losses, the worst at home against league leaders Talleres 3-0.

Conte has Boca at #5 right now after 12 matches in the league and has match day #2 at home versus Always Ready in the Libertadores.

Maximiliano Gomez (#10 shirt) has been the primary scorer this season, with 8 goals in 10 matches in league, good for #4 in scoring.

Conte's first Superclasico

Antonio Conte has coached in his first Superclasico and come out with the win. The matches against River Plate always are a great watch and have fantastic atmosphere. For Conte, he had to go into the Estadio Monumental for his first one. River Plate supporters were loud cheering on their team.

From the start, it looked like Boca Juniors were the better team. The first great chance for either team came from a fantastic long throw by Sergio Romero and even better job by Frank Fabra to keep the ball in play. He found a streaking Diego Gonzalez, who stop and cut inside. He fired but was stopped.

The rebound came right to Exequiel Zeballos. It looked like Zeballos had time to take an extra touch, but he hit it on the volley first time and hit the woodwork.

Boca opened up the scoring. After stopping a River attack, the ball came to Luis Advincula who sent cross pitch, which was fought off and headed to Sebastian Villa, who was released free on goal. Villa made no mistake, scoring on a hard low shot into the far side, giving Boca the 1-0 lead.

Boca Juniors looked like they were going to run away with the match, scoring two more times, to take a 3-0 lead. However, River Plate were not giving up.

The season is young, but Miguel Borja may just have scored the goal of the season. He received the ball, stopped, moved the ball to his right, and scored a screamer into the top right of the goal from well outside the box to put River on the scoreboard.

River kept up the pressure but weren't able to break through. Then in stoppage time they hit the cross bar. Rebound came to Advincula who cleared the ball out for a corner.

Boca comes out with a 3-1 win for Conte's first Superclasico win and definitely Conte's biggest win so far. Just one more match left until the summer transfer window opens, mid season for the Primera Division.

I have no clue about video editing, so hopefully they look okay. I'll keep working on them. Not going to do videos on all matches, just special ones.

I saved some images to Imgur but for some reason I can't get them to show up here. Not sure if I'm doing the formatting right or have the right image from Imgur.

Copa Libertadores Knockout Round 16

Boca Juniors are out of the Libertadores. After a close first leg in Equador, just a one goal deficit to Catolica, Boca looked to be in a good position to advance.

The second leg started off well, with frontman Maxi Gomez scoring in the 19th minute. Reporters and fans were certainly perplexed when Conte appeared to have his team change to a defensive mode. Catolica ended up winning on penalties four-three.

Interviewed after the match, Antonio Conte admitted that he did not know that Libertadores works differently than in Europe. In fact, he thought Boca were going through, but in the Libertadores away goals are not in effect and there's no extra time, the teams go straight to penalties, after 90 minutes in the second leg.

Summer 2023 Transfer Window update

The summer 2023 transfer window Boca Juniors were very active.

It is believed that a big reason for outgoing players was because of age, Boca Juniors wanted to get money for them before their skills start dropping.

Also, a big reason for players leaving was Boca needed to come into compliance with the league's rule of a maximum of 5 non-Argentine players maximum; Boca was given a pass last transfer window on the rule, since it was a short window and Conte had just been hired. While it was hard to know for sure what Boca's rationale was for who was transfered out, it is thought that Luis Advincula (Age 33) and Maximiliano Gomez (Age 26) were untouchable due to being fan favorites.

The biggest news is that Celtic paid the release clause for staring goal keeper Sergio Romero (age 36) and Boca let him leave. Consequently, Boca paid to have Augustin Rossi's loan terminated early, which should mean that he will be the starting keeper for the future.

The center defense was almost completely overhauled. Speculation is that is because of the age of the defense and needing to comply with the foreign players rule. Also, probably mostly, it was due to performance; Boca's biggest problem this season has been allowing goals on the counter.

Copa De Primera update

After Boca's early exit from the Libertadores and unimpressive play in the league, no one saw this coming. Boca Juniors are dominant in the Copa De Primera, with it's only loss to Union, coming when Boca was playing mostly a B squad. Boca have most goals scored and least goals allowed. It's been talked about that everyone has thought Conte may be fired, but this may save him his job, should he go on and win this competition.

Maxi Gomez has been a superstar, seems like every shot is a goal. Gomez is easily top scorer for the competition, almost two goals a game average.

Copa Primera quarter win for boca

Boca are through to the Semifinals with a 4-1 win over Lanus. A pair of goals by Villa at the 23 and 37 minute marks, had people thinking Boca would ease through. But then Lanus pulled one back with Diaz scoring right before the break.

However, Boca's skipper did the leading. Ramirez isn't one of the usual scorers, but he added two, one from his foot and one from his head. Boca ended up winning by three goals.

In the other quarter finals, River Plate and Racing Club went to penalties, with a 4-3 River win. San Lorenzo also needed penalties to go through, 5-4 penalties over Union. Finally Tigre go through with a 2-1 win over Velez Sarsfield.
