Who here remembers the days of AOL chat rooms, AIM and other chats as such? If you're not aware, they were basically how Discord is now, except a lot more trolling and people trying to hook up lol. I still have friends that I talk to on occasion from those even to this day.

I stayed on AOL much longer than I had any business of doing so. I can't remember when I first got a cable modem ('02 maybe?), but I still logged on to AOL for a few years after that it seems.

I didn't do too many chat rooms, but I would instant message all the time.

That’s how I started downloading MP3s. This was before Napster, I would be given a list of MP3 from emails in AOL and I would serve them with a program in chat rooms. Pretty interesting way of pirating back in the day
