VEGAS TAKE LEBEDEV IN FIRST ROUND

The Vegas Golden Knights selected [D] Ryan Lebedev from the QMJHL's Baie-Comeau Drakkar with the 27th Pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.


The Vegas Golden Knights selected Defenseman Ryan Lebedev in the 1st Round, 27th Overall in the 2024 Draft. The 6'2 Two-way Defenseman was a key reason for Baie-Comeau's resurgence this year as a Presidents Cup Contender. The native of Laval, Quebec also was selected to play for Team Canada for their World Junior Team, but an injury in early December sidelined him and he was unable to travel with the the team for the tournament.

Several Vegas scouts were surprised he dropped in the draft, but they were definitely elated that he was still available with the 27th Pick. Lebedev has drawn favorable comparisons to Jakob Chychrun; although his ceiling is a lot lower.

The Golden Knights didn't have any picks in the second round of the draft, so they had to wait till the 91st Overall Selection in the 3rd Round. Here they drafted another Defenseman. This time it was a hard working, stay at home defenseman with size in Igor Andreyev of the OHL's Sudbury Wolves.

FREE AGENCY POOL DEEP THIS YEAR

NHL General Managers have all been notified which players have elected to pursue Free Agency. There is definitely no shortage of talent from the Pool this year. Long time Lightning Captain Steven Stamkos has turned down a last ditch offer from Tampa Bay and will test the waters. Along with Stamkos are talented two way forwards Sam Reinhart and Elias Lindholm.

In a surprising move out of Long Island, the Islanders were not able to reach a deal with their star netminder Ilya Sororkin; who is allegedly asking for 8 Years $8 Million. It will be interesting to see which team can afford such a contract.

Unlike last year, which had a lot of backend talent available. The Free Agent Pool for Defenseman is not that deep. Heading up the list is 32 Year Old Chris Tanev.

THE KNIGHTS WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE MARC-ANDRE FLEURY ON HIS AMAZING CAREER!!!

The Vegas Golden Knights selected [G] Marc-Andre Fleury from the Pittsburgh Penguins in their Expansion Draft back in 2017. He went on to play 217 Games for the Franchise and winning a Vezina Trophy.


After a prolonged and successful career, beloved Netminder Marc-Andre Fleury has announced his retirement after 19 seasons in the league.

Fleury spent most of his career playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins, before being made available for the 2017 Expansion Draft for the Vegas Golden Knights. Fleury would win 3 Stanley Cups with the Penguins and backstop the newly formed Golden Knights to another Stanley Cup appearance.

Fleury will finish his career having played in 979 Games (4th All Time) with 554 Wins (2nd All Time) and 82 Shutouts (Tied 5th All Time).

Dustin Brown(WPG) announces retirement at 20 years and 761 points in 1,382 games. 2 Cups

Joel Pavelski(DAL) announces retirement after 17 years and 898 points in 1,223 games.

Jonathan Quick(LA) announces retirement after 16 years and 753 Games Played, 375 Wins and 58 Shutouts. 2 Cups

Corey Perry (TB) announces retirement after 17 years where he finishes with 1099 games, 386 Goals and 432 assists. 1 Cup

Patrice Bergeron (BOS) announces retirement after 21 years where he finishes with1376 games, 421 Goals and 626 Assists. 1 Cup
