I notice high-ranked players don't really use the lunging punches that much. are they viable in high-level play?

Absolutely. When done as part of a combination you can get easy takedowns and they wont see it coming even if they block. They also can keep you on the cage. Theyll hold high block which also gives ga

They're viable, just can't be predictable. I use the lunging straight to set up a spin kick to the body. It doesn't really stun you, and they can move out of the way, but mentally they think they're stuck, and they usually don't try to move.

I second this. It works VERY well. I tend to do it after I have him on his heels in close. It makes them even more tentative.

My personal striking philosophy that has made me start beating guys i never did before. Is to slowly expand the striking moves and range. I start out as a bit of a boxer who is darting in and out. As ie own that range i add bodykicks and knees. Then i expand to lunging. Then special moves. The more you throw the more defensive they get.

What is considered high level?
Is it level 6 only?
How many points do you need?
How many dudes are considered high level?

I dont consider myself hi level but I am better than most. I am wondering how many levels am i from the ceiling

Also learning it doesn't take much to jump just a few wrinkles.

I jumped up a bit after getting a monitor
Jumped again when i sat on my punches
The jumped up a bit when I made subtle striking changes
Then jumped up a bit when adding in what we are calling footsies

This changes made me a high level 4 to a mid level 5

Use forward left stick lunge before throwing hook ,hook, hook combo, use left stick flick jab and straight after opponent is backing up after throwing a combo. And use backward left stick lunge while going backwards while opponent is throwing hooks coming forward
