Recruited out of Canada as a three-star player by
James Glazier, Charles started 14 games as a freshman and earned a spot on the Big East All-Freshman Team. Playing for a new coach,
Mark Pulliam, as a sophomore, Charles didn't start, but played more minutes. Unfortunately, Charles wasn't as productive his second year. The arrival of
Devin Guzman and the emergence of
Jacob Allen forced Charles into a much less prominent role.
To his credit, Charles complained very little, and I found a way to get him into most games for a few minutes. He did his job well, allowing our starting guards to catch their breath while playing exceptionally good defense.
Charles is an intelligent, congenial man who has always represented Villanova well. He plans to stay here and complete a master's degree in education.
