MICAH RODRIGUEZ

I'm a bit surprised to be writing this one.

At the beginning of the year, the "experts" predicted Micah would be unlikely to leave school early. I checked the Pro Prospects list several times during the season, and Micah's name never appeared there.

Then, as soon as the confetti stopped falling from the ceiling of the Alamodome, Rodriguez announced he was entering the pro draft.

I wonder how many college players have scored over 1300 points in their careers while starting only three games? Micah thrived in his sixth man role, which was perfectly suited for his offense-first mentality.

Nominally a point guard, Micah could play anywhere on the perimeter. Unlike some high-volume shooters, he wasn't a ball hog; he took pride in his ability to make his teammates better.

Micah still isn't listed among the top 50 prospects. He might not hear his name called on draft night, and if he's not, he'll look to sign for someone as a free agent, or play overseas. Whatever happens, he'll always be a Lafayette legend, because of those free throws in the Alamodome on an April night.

Thanks for the memories, Micah.
