A bit of a scary situation last night. A couple of days ago, Bear called to tell us he was running a fever, had a sore throat, and a stiff neck. Well the stiff neck as part of the symptoms concerned us, so we told him to go to urgent care. He did and they told him he had strep and prescribed Amoxicillin. Last night he called again to let us know he was no better, in fact he was extremely chilled and his neck was stiffer than ever. Not wanting to mess around with what could potentially be Meningitis, we told him to go to the emergency room. I'm not sure he's still speaking with us - because he sat there for 6 and half hours. It turns out he has mono.
We all knew the neck stiffness could be unrelated to whatever illness he had. In fact, there was a good chance it was more of a result of not swimming anymore and the muscles not being heavily used. However, Meningitis is no joke, and we weren't about to take any chances.
