It seemed worthy of its own thread since it's a daily thing and their usual giveaways are weekly or so.

Hades for ten bucks didn't hurt my feelings.

Thomkal 12-22-2019 10:05 AM

Little Inferno, a game for the secret Pyromaniacs amongst us is the next free game for Epic 12 days of Xmas

Thomkal 12-23-2019 10:04 AM

Ape Out-where you play as a gorilla that has been locked in a cage until you "Ape Out" and try to escape causing as much destruction and death as possible of course is the next Epic free game.

Thomkal 12-24-2019 10:07 AM

Celeste, a platformer where you have to get to the top of the Mountain to solve the mystery on why you want to get to the top is the next free game at Epic. Not sure there will be a game tomorrow, and I will be away for most of the day so someone else can check it please?

SackAttack 12-25-2019 10:12 AM

Updated through 12/25. The Christmas Day game is Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.

Thomkal 12-25-2019 05:40 PM

Thanks for the update Sack, didn't think they would update on Xmas

SackAttack 12-26-2019 12:29 AM

My guess given the math is that 12/31 will be the last game given away and the key is 'between' those dates.

CrimsonFox 12-26-2019 01:51 AM

I'm not falling for the stupid steam sale this time. yay me. and oh yeah they've brought back the extra card when you create a badge and i had like 9 of them saved up :)

Thomkal 12-26-2019 10:04 AM

FTL is the free game at Epic today and a must-have if you don't have already in my opinion.

NobodyHere 12-26-2019 10:08 AM

I still have never beaten that game.

You gotta play on Easy. It's not easy, it's still dumb and I still die a lot, but have beaten it a few times. My son has actually beaten it once on hard, but he's dumb too.

CrimsonFox 12-26-2019 12:33 PM

i got pretty far in it I think. I think I made it to the final battle but lost bigtime.

i was able to get there because i had some great items and boosts and ran like hell all the way.

But when I got to the finale I reallized I couldn't win because I was WAYYYYYYY underpowered compared to the enemy.

It's a lot of luck I guess. And you have to stop and upgrade a lot especially vertain things. But I forget all that now :)

Just running like hell to outrun them won't work.

Blasphemy! That said, I’ve never beaten it on hard or tried to.

The big question is what ships do you have? From there you can formulate a strategy. For example, if you have the stealth variant A ship, your priorities are 1) get shields, 2) find a weapon that can penetrate shields stronger than level 2, 3) find a teleporter and improve it to at least lvl 2. If you find those three items, you should be able to defeat the flagship.

Everything else, while they may be nice, are not required to build the flagship. Even a teleporter is not strictly required, but then you need bigger weapons to knock down the flagships shields. Pause often, it helps a ton in fights. If anyone has any questions, I am more than happy to help. I have won the game with nearly all var. A and B ships. I still have not put a ton of time into the expansion, but am pretty fluent in the base game.

Thomkal 12-27-2019 10:25 AM

Hyper Light Drifter, an action-adventure RPG is the next free game at Epic.

Thomkal 12-28-2019 10:35 AM

Shadow Tactics, a stealth tactical game set in Japan's history is the free game at Epic today

tarcone 12-28-2019 11:41 AM

Thanks for posting this thread. I have wanted TABS for quite awhile. Free was the right price for me.

Thomkal 12-29-2019 10:34 AM

The Talos Priniciple, a puzzle game which reminds me very much of Myst and its ilk is the next free game at Epic.

SackAttack 12-29-2019 01:47 PM

Talos is fantastic. Played it on PS4 originally and very much enjoyed it.

CrimsonFox 12-29-2019 04:01 PM

that picture with the robot with the gun petting the kitten is...disturbing

Thomkal 12-30-2019 11:13 AM

Hello Neighbor, a game where as a kid you try to sneak into your scary neighbor's house without him catching you appears to be the free game at Epic today, I say appear because the store is down and this is what I see on Twitter.

Thomkal 12-30-2019 12:55 PM

Epic should be back up

wow that's kinda huge for me...really new game and the beta of this was a total bust! :(
never got to play it even

it looks fun

CrimsonFox 12-30-2019 08:00 PM

what's wrong with the epic site :(

Thomkal 12-31-2019 10:10 AM

Yokee-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is the final (?) game in the Epic 12 days of free games. Its a platformer with echoes of Mario Brothers type games.

SackAttack 12-31-2019 12:51 PM

Considering they gave away 13 games when they said they were gonna give away 12...

Yeah and considering they are going right back to 1 or 2 free games/week, it was certainly a nice move on their part.

Thomkal 01-01-2020 10:51 AM

I guess Christmas can continue for another week. Epic sale prices extended for 1 week as well as the chance to get a $10 off purchase with buying any game in the sale or downloading a free one.

Also they start the New Year right by giving us Steep, a skiing game and Darksiders I and II (may contain all DLC's for these two) free for a week.

funny, I did the same thing with my $10 coupon.

Thomkal 01-02-2020 12:07 PM

Outward for $6 wasn't too shabby :) Wish Epic had Pathfinder-would have taken that for $6 easy.

Ramzavail 01-02-2020 12:16 PM

I am having a blast playing Anno 1800. Use the coupon for that.

Thomkal 01-09-2020 10:14 AM

Sundered, a metroidvania like platformer from the makers of Jotun is the new free game at Epic this week

Thomkal 01-16-2020 09:44 AM

Horace, a platfomer from 2009 that I have never heard of will be the free game at Epic this week.

Thomkal 01-23-2020 07:03 AM

The Bridge a logic puzzle game which will remind you of Isaac Newton and M.C. Escher that came out in 2013 will be the free game at Epic this week.

Thomkal 01-29-2020 12:01 PM

Farming Simulator 19 will be the next free game at Epic starting Thursday

CrimsonFox 01-29-2020 10:28 PM

i have the bridge on steam...very trippy and yes escherish.
you have to spin the whole puzzle moving balls around inside and stuff and you jump over things and fall whatever

Thomkal 01-31-2020 02:30 PM

Just saw the games that should be available for free starting next Thurs-3 of them in fact, all digital board games-Pandemic, Ticket To Ride, and Carcassoone

Slight adjustment here-only the last two are free. Of course those are the two I already have. They should be available to download now.

Thomkal 02-13-2020 09:46 AM

Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Aztez are the free games at Epic this week

NobodyHere 02-13-2020 09:54 AM

I've been waiting to put Kingdom Come on my backlog

Thomkal 02-20-2020 01:34 PM

Faeria a card/strategy game where you put lands and creatures on a hex map, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate are the free games at Epic this week.

Thomkal 02-27-2020 12:10 PM

Inner Space, a atmospheric and kinda trippy exploration game is the free game at Epic this week.

Thomkal 03-05-2020 10:08 AM

GoNNer, a "tough as hell" platformer, and OffWorld Trading Company where Mars has been colonized and business now looking to exploit the new market (by Civ IV lead designer) are the new games at Epic this week.

Thomkal 04-16-2020 10:53 AM

Just Cause 4 and Wheels of Aurelia, a driving adventure game through the streets of 1970's Italy where a woman's story unfolds amongst the unrest during that time are the free games at Epic this week.

Thomkal 04-23-2020 01:46 PM

Just one free game at Epic this week, but its one that's been on my wishlist for quite a while now. For The King, a turn based RPG with roguelike elements-all expansions may be included as well.

Thomkal 04-29-2020 03:28 PM

Just a bit of a heads up for the free games that start tomorrow, Epic for just this one month for now is requiring 2-Step authorization on its free games It's a quick and easy process to set up by phone or email-just have to enter the code they send to get your free games. You can also use an authenticator if you use one:

Epic Games Store Now Requires Two-Factor Authentication To Claim Free Games, Here's Why | HotHardware

One of the free games tomorrow will be Amnesia, not sure off the top of my head what the other will be.

Thomkal 04-30-2020 10:30 AM

Amnesia, a horror survival game, and Crashlands, a crafting action RPG are the free games at Epic this week

SackAttack 05-01-2020 08:59 AM

Not sure how assiduously they're enforcing that 2FA requirement, FWIW.

Yeah I thought it odd that they were only using it for a month-maybe they are just testing it? I've not downloaded either game this week so I can't say if it was required for me or not

Thomkal 05-02-2020 08:48 PM

Put this in the Epic Thread, because I think Early Access to this game might only be at Epic starting the 5th. Quill19 takes a look at Old World, a new civ game with a twist by Soren Johnson, Lead Designer on Civ 4.

The twist? Every turn last a year and your original leader will not survive as the years pass. So a bit of Crusader Kings succession thrown in:

Old World: First Time Playing! - Part 1 - YouTube

Thomkal 05-07-2020 03:22 PM

Death Rising, a linear puzzle game where you try to collect souls is the free game at Epic this week. Stay tuned for next week's free game as they are only listing it as Mystery game at this point, so it could be something big.

Well the time has come and gone for when this big free game was supposed to be available but Epic (shocking!) is having problems with its service. Rumors continue to say that the game will be Grand Theft Auto V. They have another mystery game set for next week.

Yep it does. GTA 5 Premium Edition with includes Online and 1 DLC. Amusingly enough the launcher was in Russian (some had Spanish). But reboot if that happens and you should be able to download the English Version.

AnalBumCover 05-14-2020 01:47 PM

I guess I gotta wait for the traffic to die down a bit to get the game.

AnalBumCover 05-14-2020 01:49 PM

Dola

Nevermind. I just tried and got into the store.

I'm hoping its Borderlands. :) Civ VI would be a bit of a surprise as the game isn't even offered for sale right now at Epic that I can see. Not sure the other two are either.

Thomkal 05-15-2020 01:12 PM

Just wanted to bump this because I saw on Twitter that even getting the free game, Grand Theft Auto V, quallifies to get a $10 coupon off another Epic store game over $15. So I got the coupon without downloading GTA on Epic because I already have it elsewhere. And from what I can see the coupon is good until nov 1 and will be automatically added when you buy a game there for over $15.

If you use it before this sale ends on Jun 1, you will get another $10 coupon. Games like Outward (which I used this coupon on in the past), Journey to the Savage Planet, Control, etc.

Also I noticed that My Time at Portia is $12 during the sale too.

Not quite. Everybody gets to claim a free coupon to start things off. GTA V will trigger it, but the coupon can be claimed even if you don't claim GTA.

I have now seen that list rumored too bob. That would be pretty crazy to get Civ 6 for free.

Thomkal 05-15-2020 03:06 PM

One addition to the $10 coupon sale, Witcher 3 is for sale and with the coupon you can get it for $5. That might be the steal of the sale minus the free games of course.

NobodyHere 05-15-2020 04:03 PM

Mechwarrior 5 at 25$ is awfully tempting to me.

Civ 6 is indeed the free game this week at Epic. They have the expansions available too, but at normal price for now so not a good prospect for the $10 coupon. I noticed you get at least one extra civ (Aztec?) with this version of Civ 6 and maybe one more.

There is also a new season pass for Civ 6 available for $40 which will get you several DLC's that they will release this year and next. Several of those have new game modes but you most likely will need one of the expansions to play them.

Some people over on Steam were reporting that the game pass was preventing them from loading the expansions and other issues, so I might wait a couple days for an update.

NobodyHere 05-21-2020 01:31 PM

Nah, Epic is trying to compete with Steam.

Thomkal 05-28-2020 10:12 AM

Borderlands 2:The Handsome Collection is the new Free game at Epic. This one is massive-contains the base game, the pre-sequel and every (?) DLC that came out for them.

spleen1015 05-28-2020 10:56 AM

I was looking at the info page at Epic for this and it says Coming Soon. So probably won't be free

Thomkal 06-04-2020 08:48 AM

ARK: Survival Evolved is supposed to be the free game at Epic later today. I'll be away from the computer a bit right then, so if its not, if somebody would post about it that would be much appreciated.

spleen1015 06-04-2020 10:32 AM

Well 3 out of 4 correct isn't bad I guess. :) Looks like they might be keeping future free games a secret too, so could come up next week.

Thomkal 06-11-2020 10:17 AM

The new free game at Epic this week is indeed ARK: Survival Evolved, and something called Samurai Showdown, a collection of 6 martial arts fighting games it looks like

Thomkal 06-25-2020 10:11 AM

New games at Epic this week are:

AER, an adventure game where you transform into a bird and navigate your way through floating islands.

Stranger Things 3 based off the third season of the TV show appears to be a pixel graphics RPG based on events in this season. I've not watched an episode, so can't tell you anything more about the game. :)

Thomkal 07-09-2020 10:59 AM

Three new games at Epic this week: Killing Floor 2, Lifeless Planet, and The Escapists 2

Some do, which is one thing. They also now have you with an account which you have to use their launcher to play the free game, so they can directly advertise to you. I am also sure they can collect general data (average use of games per user. How often users log in, etc.) that can be used and even sold. Number of different benefits.

I only ever log in to claim the free games, with the exceptions of my purchases of Hades and Old World. So, y'know, they can sell THAT data all they want.

But I've still never checked the box authorizing them to share my email address with the publishers of the free games, so...

GrantDawg 07-11-2020 06:01 PM

Again, maybe I should wasn't clear. It is advertising their site. You bought games from them, and they got what they want. For every person that they lose money on (and I am sure they are paying a very small amount for the games they give away) they are making much more on game purchases. Selling info is a much smaller income stream than actual game purchases.

Two free games this week at Epic:

1-3 out of 10-an animated adventure game set at the world's worst video games studio.

2-Wilmot's Warehouse-a puzzle game where you have to keep a warehouse in tip-top shape, so when customer orders come in you know just where to go to find them

It's looking like next week's free games may include Remnant From the Ashes, so you'll want to check for that then.

Most of the Epic free games I have no interest in, but Remnant from the Ashes is one I have thought about buying a few times.

Talk about bad timing: I won a copy of this and its DLC a couple of weeks ago, :( I haven't played it much because it barely runs on my graphics card/memory challenged computer, but seems like an interesting setting.
