2016 Sports Game of the Year: Best Online Experience (Readers)

When it comes to Online Modes in sports games, the Best Online Experience category was the closest and tightest vote in our Reader's Choice from top to bottom.

Each of the award winners from the Readers are on this list for different reasons. NBA 2K17 got a lot of support thanks to features like MyPark. The Show had Diamond Dynasty, which was a vastly improved experience this year (and the game played smoothly online!). NHL 17 was all about EASHL, which is one of the more fun experiences you can have in sports gaming. FIFA 17 had the always solid Ultimate Team and the Pro Clubs feature.
But it was Madden NFL and the only fully functional online franchise mode which won this category this year. Connected Franchise still stands as a great achievement by EA, and its truly sad we don't have more modes like it in sports gaming. However, that's not to say Madden is a one trick pony -- the game also features Madden Ultimate Team and Draft Champions, which are both excellent features as well.
