Pre-season Football: A Big Deal or A Waste of Time
Posted on August 14, 2012 at 09:24 PM.
A funny thing happened this weekend on my twitter feed. Tweet after tweet blew up my feed declaring Andrew Luck and Rober Griffin as the next Randall Cunningham and Dan Marino. Both quarterbacks looked impressive in their first NFL action as Luck completed 10 of 16 passes for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns. Griffin went 4 of 6 for 70 yards and 1 touchdown. I think that these numbers are pretty meaningless.

While I believe that both quarterbacks will go on to have amazing all-pro careers I think that everyone is placing too much stock into these pre-season games. We only have to look at last nights ESPN game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders. Both teams looked lackluster and anemic. Most of these teams have their depth charts set and the superstar players do not really take these games serious.

What do you guys think? Do pre-season games matter or not?
