Extra Life 2015

One month from today, I'll be undertaking a 24 hour gaming journey to support Children Miracle Network Hospitals, or in this case, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH. I've worked since the first of the year to get to this point and the gaming is the reward for the hard work. Signing up people to play, talking about Extra Life and the benefits every chance I get and raising money anyway I could in order to help sick kids in the hospital.

As a child who would visit a Children�s Miracle Network numerous times for Asthma, I did not know that I could have the opportunity to turn around and help kids that were just like me. I never knew that I was capable of anything charity related. Then my world changed, eleven years ago my Dad passed away, my life changed completely. I had donated here and there for charities, but never did I think to do one or how to help out. After his passing, I began to seek out local Relay for Life events to help raise money for cancer. As fulfilling as it was, it just wasn't �me�, so I always wanted to find something that was more fitting for my personality. The moment I found Extra Life five years ago was when it suddenly clicked. Having two healthy children of my own, made me realize how lucky I am. Doing tours of my local hospital confirmed it. Four years ago when I took my boys�s to the kickoff event at my local hospital and witness them embrace the sick kids who came down for it opened my eyes so wide. I've cried many tears since my Dad passed away, cried many tears for sick children I have never even met. My life changed, I changed my entire outlook. It wasn't, �What�s in it for me� anymore, it was �How can I help?�. Now I�m committed for life with a complete overhaul in my outlook on how precious life truly is. I embrace it and truly live for each day.

My Dad passing away began shaping me, Extra Life provided the mold.
