The Greatest : All Time Starting 5
Posted on October 1, 2010 at 01:31 AM.
Building a Team from the best of the best is no easy task. There are certain players you must pick and choose and i think i have complied the Greatest Team ever. Enjoy

Point Guard : Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson is here for a multitude of reason's. He excelled at Every category. He could hit the mid- range jumpshot, control the floor like no other, rebound, steal and pretty much play every aspect of the game of basketball. I have Johnson here not only for his great contributions and skill for the game, but most importantly Versatility. Magic Could play any position on the court and when i say any position i really mean ANY position. due to his incredible basketball ability Johnson has played all the positions on an NBA floor he even filled in at center. Magic's Overall Game, Skill and Versatility Earn him the nod here as the point guard.

Shooting Guard : Kobe Bryant

WHAT NO MICHAEL JORDAN (angry mob rallies and approaches my house ). Don't worry Michael is on the team he just isn't at the 2 guard.
Kobe Bryant is what is thought of as the closest thing to MJ we have seen (so far). The 5 time NBA Champion really needs no intro as he has been the most dynamic player of the 2000's. The reason Kobe Bryant is here (besides his phenomenal game changing skills) is due to the fact he can adjust. Kobe Bryant is no longer that high flying 26 year old that can do insane moves going to the basket. At the age of 32 Kobe Bryant has become the mature player. Much like Jordan Kobe Bryant has been able to keep up and surpass the competition by remodeling his game. Developing a Jordan esque turnaround jump shot and using his other weapons Kobe Bryant has become the complete player as he excels at both ends of the court.

Small Forward : Michael Jordan.

HERE HE IS ANGRY MOB . I really don't think any explanation is needed for this one. Michael Jordan is the greatest player that has ever lived. i would rattle off his accomplishments and such but by the time i am done typing them my hands would bleed.

Power Forward : Tim Duncan

Tim Duncan Gets the nod here at Power Forward as i can not name one that was more dominate than he has been. Duncan has unique abilites that few big men have in the NBA. Duncan is a proven leader on and off the court he has helped the spurs to win 4 titles and has the ability to make players around him better. I believe Duncan redefined the bank shot for big men making him a dangerous weapon that possess tools to succeed on both sides of the court.

Center : Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

This Decision was one of the toughest to make with so many great candidates to choose from. I chose Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for many reasons but most importantly was longevity. Jabbar lasted in the league for 20 years. he won the finals MVP at age 38 and on top of that won 6 regular season MVP's and led the Lakers to five titles. Jabbar was a force to be reckoned with at both ends of the court. his patented sky hook devastated many teams thousands of times.

Well there you have it. My all time starting 5 thanks for reading

It would be no fun after a while because they would be crushing everybody on a nightly basis.

well from that starting 5 i guess u think tht the best franchise in the history is the lakers?(which i agree btw) and i believe u should switch Duncan with Garnett. Just the intensity that he brings to the game and for the most part his team is unparallel. but i can see ur argument on Duncan and btw lets not forget about the mailman.

Nice starting 5

Responding to J3bit0 yes i am a little biased towards the Lakers but i believe that each of the desicions involving them was fairly made. Though i was seriously considering Russell for Center, I switched at the last moment to Kareem. And I like what you said about Malone and KG. Garnett has that presence while the mailman was unbelievable in his prime

Depends on what type of team you like tho brother .. for fantasy match sake .. my team. I'd probably go with a rugged look. I'll keep it with the modern era players .. cause Bill Russel would just throw a wrench in everything.

Kobe at 1, Mike at 2, Lebron 3, Duncan 4, Hakeem 5.

(All in their prime ? I say they'd take your 5 ...) If you've got the 360? We can get em on Tuesday

Lebron and Kobe could easily switch .. but that's where I'd start .. and run a slow half court .. type game.

# 7 Tommy_Vercetti @ Oct 1
nice list but mine would be Lebron 1, Jordan 2, Pippen 3, Garnett 4, Shaq 5

I agree with your lineup to a certain degree but Jordan was never a true small forward although he could play the position. My lineup with certainty would be Magic at the 1, Jordan at the 2, and Tim Duncan at the 4. The 3 is somewhat of a tossup. I'd say it's between Pippen and LeBron although I think Dr.J could be in the argument for some. And at the 5, perhaps the hardest position to choose as you stated. With so many candidates, you could do well with either one. Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, and Shaq.

Tim Duncan is hands down the greatest power forward of all time! And don't forget about larry Bird at the 3 spot. 1.magic, 2. Jordan, 3. Bird, 4. Duncan, 5. ???.. Wilt Chaimberlain.

# 10 baller25 @ Oct 4
Agree completely with the list. Was going to slot Larry Bird in at 3, move Jordan to 2 and axe Kobe but number of championships is what persuades me. Here's my bench team:

PG: Oscar Robertson, SG: Jerry West, SF: Larry Bird, PF: Kevin Garnett, C: Wilt Chamberlain

Get Kobe outta there, he's too reckless. lol.
My take:
1-Magic
2-Michael
3-Bird
4-TD
5-Hakeem

2nd Team imo:
1-Stockton
2-Kobe
3-Pippen
4-Barkley
5-Shaq

# 12 VictorOzieh @ Oct 4
1 Kobe
2 Jordan
3 Lebron
4 Garnett/Duncan/Amare
5 Dwight Howard

Kobe and jordan can switch at the 1 & 2 if need be

I definitely think you have to have Stockton and Malone both in there, even if not together (although we all know how effective they were at their combination.) I'm also lobbying for Hakeem Olajuwon! I'm a big fan of The Dream because of his quickness in the post. Also a HUGE shot blocker! I think I would have to go:

First Team:
PG - Magic
SG - MJ
SF - Bird
PF - Duncan
C - Wilt

Second Team
PG - Stockton
SG - Kobe
SF - Elgin Baylor
PF - Garnett/Malone (Garnett for his big game championship ability, Malone for the pick n roll)
C - Hakeem Olajuwon/Kareem
